The Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu arrived at Itanagar on Friday on his  two-day maiden visit  to Arunachal Pradesh.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Dr BD Mishra received the Vice President at Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister  Chowna Mein, cabinet ministers and senior officers were present on the occasion. A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to the Vice President by Arunachal Pradesh Police at the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.

Later, the Vice President had a brief interaction with the Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Secretary Satya Gopal.

Before leaving the Raj Bhavan for Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre, Itanagar, Naidu, on the request of the Governor, has consented to plant a sapling of Red Sandalwood (Rakta Chandana) at the front lawn of Raj Bhavan.

Naidu  will be laying the foundation stone for seepage management system and storm water drainage system of Itanagar and address the research scholars and faculty members of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) at Nirjuli, near Itanagar on June 16.
