Tribal villagers of Bhagirath Para in remote Dhalai district of Tripura have threatened to boycott vote on demand of basic amenities.

Tribal villagers of Bhagirath Para in remote Dhalai district of Tripura have threatened to boycott vote on demand of basic amenities like clean drinking water supply, electricity, road connectivity, proper school facilities, fair price shop, market shade and panchayat office.

Bhagirath Para located in remote Gandacherra sub-division is a tribal village in which more than 220 families live without any basic amenities like water, electricity, road, school or fair price shop which they were promised every time especially before the elections but after the polling none of the pre-poll promises are kept and hence they decided not to vote in this general election.

Protesting villagers has demanded that chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb would meet them and give commitment on full filling their demands at the earliest or they shall abstain from casting votes.

Villagers alleged that the government back in the year 2012 had taken Rs 1400 as advance money for providing electricity connection but yet to get it.

Moreover, the villagers also demanded supply of water in the pipelines which have been installed long back.

The protesting villagers also demanded more teachers in school beside hostel facility for students.

The protesters mostly youths demanded for setting up of market shed, panchayat office, and other basic facilities which according to them are their fundamental rights.
