The United National Liberation Front of WeSEA (UNLFW) through a notification has declared the People’s Democratic Council of Karbi-Longri (PDCK), a militant outfit floated in 2016, as the new member of the UNLFW, which is a joint platform of most of the militant outfits of the Northeast.

A declaration issued by the Lt Gen (Retrd.) Khango Konyak, the Chairman of the United National Liberation Front of WeSEA (UNLFW), on April 25, 2018, stated, “With due revolutionary addressed, it is herewith notified the declaration of general information to all Member Organizations of the UNLFW that, today, the 25th day of April 2018, the UNLFW has thoroughly scrutinized the distinctive grounded facts of the People’s Democratic Council of Karbi-Longri (PDCK) over their Political Right, Historical Right and Indigenous Rights and on the basis of their revolutionary ideological principles of sovereignty and has unanimously passed the Resolution No: 01 in the house of meeting to grant the authority to admitting of the People’s Democratic Council of Karbi-Longri (PDCK) as the 5th new National Liberation Organization into the United National Liberation Front of WeSEA (UNLFW).”

The Chairman of the United National Liberation Front of WeSEA also stated that the PDCK has effectively admitted and has emerged as the recognized Member Organization with an equal footing with the existing of all Member Organizations of the United National Liberation Front of Wesea and assumed the UNLFW’s rights and obligations to ensure all the rights and benefits resulting from the membership.

It may be mentioned that People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) was formed on October 27, 2016, pledging to fight for sovereignty of the Karbis.

“Concurring individuals believing in sovereignty of the Karbis held various discussions earlier this month where the need for a new armed outfit in the district to fight for the rights of the Karbis was strongly felt. Thus, a unanimous decision was taken to give birth to PDCK which was formally formed,” stated the outfit’s Chairman Jeksai, General Secretary Nongme Tungjang and army chief ‘Captain’ David Mukrang.
