There is no end to rapes in Tripura with two more such incidents taking place within a week in the state.

The state has witnessed five incidents of rape in the past month alone.

A woman was reportedly gang-raped on the night of November 28 in Thaibong village in South Tripura district, while she had gone to attend a social function.

Finding her alone while returning home, two youths of her locality raped her and also threatened her with murdering her husband if she revealed the incident to anyone.

The victim at the behest of her husband and mother-in-law filed a complaint at the Sabroom Police station on that very night.

The police later arrested the accused, who have been identified as Prasenjit Debnath and Madhusudhan Nath.

In a separate incident, a woman was raped on the night of November 30 in Champak Nagar in West Tripura district.

The victim was reportedly raped by the driver of the car she had rented to return home after attending a social function.

The driver after raping the victim threw her on the roadside and fled from the spot.

When the victim did not respond after repeated calls on her mobile phone, her husband who had also attended the function, got anxious and set out for his home on his motorcycle.

On the way he found his wife lying unconscious on the roadside.

The victim lodged a complaint at the Champak Nagar Police Station the next day.

The police arrested Sumit Das, the driver of the car from Agartala.
