Tripura DGP AK Shukla

Three police personnel have been suspended and a departmental enquiry has been ordered following a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) trooper committed suicide after killing three members of his family including his wife in Tripura, stated the Tripura Director General of Police, AK Shukla.

Accepting that there were some lacunae on the part of the office of the DIG (Armed Police), the DGP said the deceased TSR trooper was Manik Lal Ghosh, who had some psychological problem since the last year and was under treatment.

Shukla said that the weapon with which Ghosh committed suicide and killed his family members was taken from the guard room of the DIG (AP) office when the guard had gone to the washroom leaving behind the rifle.

Ghosh kept hidden the INSUS rifle in his raincoat and fled from the spot on his bike.

The DGP also viewed that the Tripura Chief Minister, who also is also holding the Home portfolio, has asked to investigate into the case. He has also asked the department to make arrangements for regular psychiatrist counselling for the police and paramilitary force personnel.
