Residents of Vanghmun village in Jampui Hills in North Tripura on Wednesday witnessed the arrival of a chief minister after a gap of 20 years.

Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday arrived in Vanghmun to inaugurate the Framers Knowledge Centre and a tourist lodge.

He was accompanied by state tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy, state social welfare and social education minister Santana Chakma and MLA Bhagaban Das.

Addressing the public, Deb said, “I appeal to the people of Vanghmun to maintain a peaceful atmosphere to facilitate growth and development of the region.”

“Hatred and bitterness cannot bring prosperity to a nation or a state,” he said.

The chief minister also applauded the people of their untiring efforts to make Vanghmun the cleanest village in Tripura.

The chief minister also said that construction of a road connecting the village to Shimlung is being implemented at a cost of Rs 309.43 crore.
