Sanjay Das from Tripura has been selected among the 47 teachers, who have been nominated for the national teachers’ awards, which will be given out on September 5 on the occasion of Teachers’ Day
The award is presented by the human resource development ministry.

Earlier, each state and UT government used to select one teacher and recommend the name for the award.
However, since 2019 the HRD ministry abolished the state government’s nomination process and selection of the teachers was done through online testing and verification.
A total of 153 teachers applied for this year’s awards and among the, 47 teachers were nominated for this year’s national award.

Sanjay Das, who has been selected from Tripura, is the assistant headmaster of Tilabazar School in Kailasahar, Unkoti District.
