Tripura University has sent a proposal to the ministry of human resource development and the university grants council (UGC) for introducing diploma courses in Japanese, Korean, Nepali, and Manipuri languages.

The Tripura university, which is a central varsity, has urged the MHRD and the UGC to approve their proposal so that the diploma courses in these four languages can be started from the next academic session.

The University has stated that it is mulling introducing courses in these languages as there is a growing trend among students in India to learn foreign languages.
