The Tripura cabinet has approved appointment of retired officers for disposing pending departmental proceedings.
Retired officers from civil service and judiciary will be appointed by the Tripura government for expediting the process of disposing pending departmental proceedings.

This was informed by Tripura minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Chowdhury said that the decision was taken by the Tripura government after reviewing pending departmental proceedings against employees working under the state government.

Notably, the Tripura government administration has been facing a massive shortage of staff at senior officers’ level.
However, promotion of many state government employees has been pending owing to pending proceedings against them.
“The cabinet has approved appointment of retired IAS, Tripura Civil Service and Tripura Judicial Service officers for completion of pending departmental inquiries,” said Chowdhury.
He added: “The retired officers will ensure that the pending proceedings gets completed within three months.”

Meanwhile, the Tripura cabinet has also approved proposals of allotting lands for construction of Tripura Medical College and Forensic University.
While, a 25-acre land has been approved for the Tripura Medical College, another 49.21 acre of land has been approved for Forensic University.
