AGARTALA: The Twipra Students Federation (TSF), a member of the Northeast Students’ Organization (NESO), has issued urgent appeals following a tragic incident on May 02.

A bus traveling from Agartala to Guwahati was involved in a fatal accident near Dittokcherra in Diam Hasao district of Assam, resulting in loss of life and severe injuries.

Among the deceased was Dibraj Debbarma from Dhalai district in Tripura, scheduled to take the Tripura State Cooperative Bank exam.

Additionally, six individuals sustained critical injuries and were initially treated at Harangajao before being transferred to Silchar Medical College in Cachar district of Assam.

In a memorandum addressed to the Managing Director of Tripura State Cooperative Bank, TSF vice president John Debbarma outlined the challenges faced by the affected students.

He stressed the need for a special examination to accommodate those unable to attend due to hospitalization in Assam.

The memorandum stressed on the importance of ensuring fairness and equal opportunities for all candidates in the wake of the unfortunate circumstances.

TSF urged the MD to consider providing compensation to the victims and their families, as well as offering employment to a member of the deceased’s family.
