Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday directed to lift the ban on photography in tourist destinations and night stays in some locations be reintroduced for attracting tourists.
The directive was given at a review meeting on the activities of the mission of his government.
Photography is banned in most tourist places in Tripura and tourists are not allowed to stay in most guest houses in tourism destinations despite being available.
Deb stressed on ensuring world-class facilities in all tourist destinations and asserted that the government is going to make necessary chances in the tourism policy to increase footfall. He said PM recently directed the officials of ASI for removing restrictions on photography in ASI sites.
Deb further emphasized on releasing a Tripura guide Tripura Parikrama, with details of tourist destinations and attractive photographs. He has also asked to prepare a plan for construction of a ropeway between Mata Tripureswari temple and Bhubaneswari temple in Udaipur; besides looking at the other places where ropeway services can be installed.
The chief minister also asked the state’s pineapple fruit, flora, fauna, historical sites and temples be promoted. Improvement of ancillary services like hotels, local transport system, cleanliness and further enhancement of security in the tourist places were also discussed in the meeting.
