The tea industry of Tripura is all set to get a logo to boost its global image. It is also one of the important factors for boosting sales at auction markets.

The oldest industry in the state is ready to get a unique identity in the auction market within next one and half months after the Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC) discussed the issue with Tea Board of India (TBI).

It will also bring relief to around 15000 people engaged in the tea industry. The State’s annual production of tea is around 8.7 million kg.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and the TTDC has been struggling to set up a tea auction market in the State for tea workers benefit.

Tea Cell is working with Industries and Commerce department while Tea Research Association (TRA), TTDC and TBI are also functioning to promote tea in Tripura, reports The Assam Tribune.

The state has around 54 tea estates. TTDC chairman Santosh Saha said,” “A logo for tea produced in the State has been finalized and will be sent to TBI for its consent. If TBI extends its helping hand, Tripura tea will surely get a logo by next one and half months which could be a game changer for the entire tea industry”.

The longfelt need for a logo will not only benefit the tea industry but also help in the development of the State’s economy as a logo can help in effective marketing of tea globally.
