Royal scion and TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Deb Barma has said no initiative to restrain or suppress the rights of autonomous district council (ADC) would be tolerated.

Deb Barma said this during a meeting with party activists and leaders at Ambassa in Tripura’s Dhalai district on Saturday afternoon.

Deb Barman held a meeting with Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, the chief of the erstwhile regional party INPT at his residence in Ambasa.

“The meeting was held to set the future discourse of action after the merger of INPT with us,” Deb Barma said.

“It is important for attaining the goals and ideals of Tipra Motha, for attaining greater Tipraland against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the influx of illegal immigrants in the state,” he said.

Further regarding the recent debate between the state government and the ADC on the functioning of village committee Deb Barma said, “There are clear directives and legal provisions regarding the sixth schedule areas. ADC is an autonomous body.”

“And no initiative would be tolerated to restrain the legal rights of ADC and we would take action as per the law,” he said.

According to experts, Ambassa is going to be the centre of new political dimensions in the district in the days to come.
