Tripura Government is planning to conduct COVID-19 test for everyone returning to the state from outside, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said on Monday.

“The state government is procuring another COVID-19 testing machine and with it, the state will have three such machines,” Deb further said.

“The order to procure another COVID-19 testing machine was passed today and we will receive the machine within a short period of time,” he further said.

“Once it arrives, the state health officials will start collecting samples of every person returning to Tripura,” the CM further said.

He also informed that only 20 per cent of the passengers, who have returned from outside, have been tested so far.

“Around 40,000 people from Tripura are stranded outside the state and so far nearly 14,000 have returned home,” Deb informed.

He further said that even though the number of positive cases is on the rise in the state, however, there is no threat of community spread in the state.
