Tripura on Tuesday registered another COVID19 positive case taking the state total to 154.

Confirming the news, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday said the infected patient is a Border Security Force (BSF) official.

The official belongs to the 138th battalion of the BSF based in Dhalai district of Tripura.

Chief minister Deb said samples of a total of 710 civilians and BSF personnel of 138th Battalion based in Dhalai district were sent for COVID19 test, out of which one BSF official tested positive for the virus.

Chief minister Deb tweeted on Tuesday: “Today in #COVID19 test among 710 civilians & BSF officials of 138th-Bn, Dhalai Dist, 1 BSF official found COVID-19 POSITIVE.”

“All COVID-19 patients are under proper medication, team of expert Doctors are taking care of them.”

“I pray for their speedy recovery,” he added.

On Monday Tripura registered two COVID19 positive cases taking the state’s total to 153.

Tripura chief minister Deb on Monday said the two infected patients were BSF officials posted in Dhalai district.

However, he did not divulge anything about the battalion they belong to.

The chief minister on Monday said samples of 750 civilians and BSF personnel were sent for COVID19 test and out of those, the two BSF officials tested positive.

According to the Union health ministry website, India so far has recorded a total of 70,756 confirmed COVID19 cases with 2,293 deaths.

Out of the total COVID19 positive cases registered in the country, 22,454 have been discharged from hospitals after their recovery while one person has been migrated and currently there are 46,008 active COVID19 cases.
