Another 10 people in Tripura have tested positive for Covid-19, taking the state’s overall tally to 254.

Of the ten infected persons, eight returned from Bangladesh, one came back from Gurgaon and one belongs to the BSF’s 86th Battalion at Ambassa in Dhalai district.

“10 people found COVID-19 #POSITIVE in Tripura today after test of 915 persons. (1 person Gurugram returnee, 8 are Bangladesh returnees & 1 person is from 86 BN BSF),” Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted on Friday night.

“Airport passengers all tested negative. Govt is taking all precautionary measures to keep everyone secure,” he added.

A total of 23  people found positive in the state on Wednesday. Among them 18 people have come from Maharashtra by train & 5 others were in contact of positive patients.

On the other hand, on Thursday two persons tested positive for the virus.

The majority of the recent cases have been detected among people returning from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and other states.

According to the latest reports, 16,349 people out of 26,943 have completed their 14-day quarantine period and have been discharged.

A total of 39,799 people from Tripura, who are stranded in other parts of the country because of lockdown restrictions, have registered their names with the state’s Covid-19 control room helpline and sought to return home at the earliest.
