Tripura Police has re-arrested notorious drug smuggler Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury (18), who escaped from police custody on Wednesday morning.
A police team lead by North District SP Bhanupada Chakraborty managed to arrest drug smuggler Faruk Ahmed from Chandpur Halam slum area under Churaibari Police Station in North District.

Faruk Ahmed had escaped through the window of the washroom of Kadamtala police station, where he was under custody.
On June 27, North district intelligence branch and Kadamtala police recovered a total of 4,400 Yaba tablets in 22 packets from Baragol area in Maheshpur Road.

Police arrested two drug dealers – Faruk Ahmed and Bishal Shabdkar in connection with the recovery.
Officials of the Kadamtala police station filed a case against the duo under section 37 of NDPS.
The police interrogated the duo and found out that they were smuggling the contraband to Bangladesh.
The Dharmanagar district and sessions court had granted a three-day custody of the duo to the police.
