Agartala: Two individuals were apprehended by Tripura Police for possession of suspected heroin valued at Rs 4 crore.
The arrests were made in Bagbasa, located in the state’s North District, which borders Assam and Mizoram.

Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty informed reporters that acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted a vehicle lacking a number plate and discovered 408 grams of heroin concealed in 36 soap boxes.
The arrested individuals, identified as Sohel Mia (23) and Dilwar Hossain (35), both residents of Tripura’s Sonamura Sub-division in Sepahijala District, have been taken into custody along with the drugs and the vehicle.
Sepahijala District shares a significant portion of its border with Bangladesh, adding complexity to cross-border smuggling activities.

SP Chakraborty disclosed that the street value of the seized heroin amounts to Rs 4 crore.
