A youth has been arrested by the police in Tripura in connection with abduction and rape of a 16-year-old specially-abled girl in the North district. 

The arrested person has been identified Jasim Uddin, resident of ward no – 7 of Tarakpur gram panchayat under North Tripura district. 

Accused Jasim Uddin was produced before court on Monday. He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. 

A 16-year-old specially-abled girl was abducted from Kadamtala block area under Kadamtali police station in North Tripura district around 11 AM on May 21 last.  

On the following day, the abductor called at the minor’s family and said that he had taken her to the temple and married her.

A case of abduction and subsequent rape of a minor girl was filed against accused Jasim Uddin at Kadamtala police station by the family of the abducted minor. 

After receiving a written complaint, the police of Kadamtala police station took up the case and started an investigation.  

Police were able to rescue the abducted minor from South Kadamtala area after starting the investigation.  

Police arrested the accused kidnapper Jasim Uddin on Sunday.

Kadamtala police station Officer-in-Charge Krishnadhan Sarkar told Northeast Now that police were investigating the abduction and rape case against the accused Jasim Uddin.
