The police accountability commission (PAC) has served show-cause notices to three Tripura police officers for their alleged highhandedness while arresting former PWD minister Badal Choudhury.

The PAC on Wednesday issued show-cause notices to West Agartala police station officer-in-charge Subrata Chakraborty, DSP Dhruba Nath and DSP (crime branch) Ajay Kumar Das for allegedly violating the provisions of Tripura Police Act during arrest of Choudhury.

Accepting a complaint filed by Shreya Ghosh, daughter of former minister Choudhury, PAC chairman Swapan Chandra Das slapped notices on the three officials.

Shreya in her complaint alleged that on October 30 a group of policemen forcibly taken Choudhury out of the hospital through the backdoor of the hospital without doctor’s advice.

While doing so the police officers also ill-treated Shreya’s mother Namita Gope and herself in gross violation of human rights.

She alleged that police harassed Choudhury and her mother Namita Gope while he was taken to west Agartala police station on October 30.

Choudhury’s wife Namita Gope also filed a case against two doctors of ILS hospital in the chief judicial magistrate (CJM)’s court.

She alleged that the two doctors–Archana Jain and Tamojit Nath– created disturbance in the treatment process.

Tripura police on October 30 arrested former PWD minister Choudhury from a hospital in Agartala in connection with a Rs 164- crore corruption case.

Choudhury was pulled out from his hospital bed and taken to West Agartala police station.
