Senior commander of the proscribed National Liberation Front of Tripura or the NLFT, Jaiba Kaloi has surrendered before the Border Security Force.
The NLFT leader has laid down arms after being part of the outfit for at least 23 years.

“Active NLFT(BM) cadre namely Jaiba Kaloi @ Litan Jamatia @ Chalai a resident of Ompi under Gomati district of Tripura, who claims to be presently holding rank of Self-Styled Lieutenant in their organization has surrendered before BSF in presence of Susanta Kumar Nath, IPS, Inspector General Tripura, other Senior BSF Officers today,” the BSF said.
Jaiba Kaloi had joined the NLFT in the year 1998.

Kaloi met his aging parents on Monday after gap of 23 years. He had not met his parents since the day he joined the NLFT in 1998.
Persistent efforts of the security agencies have resulted in a large number of militants laying down arms in Tripura over the past couple of years.
