Imphal: The Joint Tribes Council (JTC-Manipur) has given the Central and Manipur governments 48 hours to recover the missing head of a victim and arrest individuals allegedly operating with impunity under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement.

The ultimatum followed the arrival of Ajinbou Ringkangmai’s headless body at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) mortuary around midnight on Sunday.

Ringkangmai and Dibambou Ringkangmai were killed in recent attacks on Makui Asang and Tapon Naga villages.

The JTC-Manipur Working Committee, representing the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme communities, said at the mortuary that post-mortem examinations of both victims would remain suspended until the missing head was returned to the family for a dignified burial.

JTC representatives condemned the killings and accused both governments of failing to deliver justice.

They demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Thangboi Kipgen, David Hangsing and Sailen Haokip, alleging that the accused were shielded by the SoO agreement.

The council warned that it would take stringent measures if the authorities failed to act within 48 hours.
