The Left Front in Tripura has come down heavily on the Central Government over the sky-rocketing prices of fuel in the Country.

The Left Front has accused the Centre of helping corporate houses by hiking the prices of fuel.

“Corporates are extorting money from common people by raising the prices of petroleum products,” convenor of the Left Front in Tripura – Bijan Dhar said.

The Left Front led by the CPI-M has further said that prices of other essential commodities are also rising steeply due to the high prices of fuel.

“Prices of essential commodities are also rising sharply due to high price of diesel,” Dhar added.

The Left Front also alleged that the Government, both at the Centre as well as in Tripura, are not working in the interest of common people.

“During the first wave of COVID, the Tripura government had announced to deposit Rs 1,000 in the bank accounts of workers. But till date, no money has been disbursed. The government has also not increased the wages of the workers as promised,” Dhar alleged.

The Left parties in Tripura are demanding: universal vaccination for all at government expense, financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to families of COVID-19 victims, excise duty on petrochemicals be withdrawn and non-withdrawal of subsidies on ration.
