IPFT general secretary Mebar Jamatia has said that it was immature on the part of the ruling BJP to blame IPFT for the poor performance of the alliance in the recent Tripura Tribals Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls in Tripura.
The newly formed TIPRA Motha has won the TTAADC elections this time.
The IPFT contested from 17 seats in the TTAADC polls and failed to win even a single seat.
Tripura BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee earlier said that the alliance of BJP and IPFT could not come to power in the ADC because of the poor results of the IPFT.
Mebar Jamatia said, “IPFT and BJP fought as an alliance. After the results, the leaders of the two parties should sit together and find out the reason for their poor performance in the election. Blaming the IPFT for its failure is immature on the BJP.”
However, Jamatia refrained from saying why his party has fared badly in the elections and instead said that they will discuss the matter.

Jamatia also alleged that the CPI(M) was carrying out terror in the name of TIPRA Motha in the hilly areas of Tripura.
Expressing grave concern over the post-poll violence in Khowai, West Tripura and Sipahijala districts, the party called upon the state police authority to take stringent action to curb the violence as well as arrest and bring the culprits to book in an exemplary manner.
The IPFT also demanded the immediate launch of relief operations in different violence-marred areas of the state and payment of compensation to victims.
The party appealed to all sections of people regardless of ideological and political differences to maintain peace and cordial atmosphere in the state and especially in the autonomous district council areas.
