Tripura health secretary Debashis Basu and National Health Mission (NHM) director Aditi Majumder were removed from their posts after corruption charges were levelled against them.
It was alleged that the duo had wrongfully purchased COVID-19 kits and hand sanitizers and there was a misappropriation of fund of around Rs 34 lakhs.

State education minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday night informed that as reports of corruption have surfaced against the duo, the state government, hence, decided to remove them from their respective posts.
“Chief Minister Biplab Dev, has, in fact, ordered for a detailed inquiry,” Nath said.
Kiran Gitte, secretary of industry and commerce department and secretary of finance department Tanushree Debbarma were asked to oversee the probe and submit the report at the earliest.
Agartala BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman in a letter to the Chief Minister has claimed that there were irregularities in buying COVID-19 kits and sanitizers as the state fights COVID-19.
