Identical twin sisters, who worked as nurses at the same hospital, died within three days after testing positive for COVID-19.

As per reports, the 37-year-old sisters were suffering from other health complications before contracting COVID-19 and had been unwell for some time.

While one sister Katy Davis died at Southampton General Hospital on Tuesday, her twin Emma lost her life at the same hospital on Friday.

Katy worked as a risk and patient safety lead-in child health at University Hospital Southampton and Emma was a nurse in the colorectal unit of the same hospital.

The hospital staff paid their tributes to the departed souls.

Frontline staff are the ones who are at a high risk of contracting coronavirus as they had to attend to a lot of people.

Some doctors also lost their lives in India after contracting COVID-19.

On April 9, India reported its first death among the frontline health workers as a doctor succumbed to the deadly coronavirus in Indore.

The 62-year-old doctor who was a general physician had tested positive for COVID-19 a few days prior to his death.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 24506 on Saturday.

The death toll due to coronavirus in the country is 775 so far and the number of active cases is 18668.

5062 people suffering from coronavirus have either been cured or discharged in the country so far.
