Police at Teliamura in Tripura’s khowai district has intercepted an Assam-bound truck carrying ganja (cannabis) worth Rs 1 crore.

This massive seizure was made by the police on Monday.

The police have also seized the truck, bearing registration number TR-01-Q-1913.

The police have also arrested two persons in connection with this massive seizure.

This massive consignment of ganja was being transported to Assam from Agartala.

Teliamura DSP (Traffic) Sona Charan Jamatia said, “The contraband was being transported to Assam from Agartala.”

Notably, the Tripura Government has asked different agencies in the State to act tough against smuggling of drugs.

Notably, in a three-day co-ordination meeting held between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recently in Agartala, discussions were held on a host of cross-border issues including smuggling and human trafficking.
