Former chief engineer of PWD in Tripura, Sunil Bhowmik, was arrested by police on Sunday night.

At present he is in West Agartala police station.

He will be produced before the court likely on Monday afternoon.

On Sunday night a case was registered against present MLA and former PWD minister Badal Choudhury along with two other former top officials of Left Front government in Tripura.

One is former chief secretary of the state Yash Pal Singh and the other is former chief engineer of PWD, Sunil Bhowmik.

The case was registered on alleges Rs 600 crore PWD scam.

The FIR was filed after gathering observations from the PWD and a vigilance inquiry on this issue.

The case has been registered under the sections of 409, 418, 420, 201, 120B IPC and 13 PC against Badal Chowdhury, Y P Singh and Sunil Bhowmik.

On Sunday night West Agartala police station staff along with SDPO Dhruva Nath raided the residence of Sunil Bhowmik and from there he was detained.

Sources from the police informed that they also raided at the MLA hostel located at Agartala where present MLA Badal Choudhury is staying.

But he was not there.

Sources confirmed that police is searching different places to nab him.
