Tripura based entrepreneur Akshya Shree’s love for traditional handicrafts has been the blessing of a number of poor bamboo artisans of the State.
Akshya’s entrepreneurial venture Silpakarman which manufactures high quality bamboo products has been providing a decent source of livelihood to the poor rural people in the State.
As per reports, Akshya, who had an eye for researching more about traditional handicrafts since childhood, took up the idea of exploring the utility of bamboo while pursuing a short course in export management from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in Delhi.
After two years of extensive research on bamboo, Akshya launched Silpakarman in 2017.
Silpakarman’s products are a part of the Amazon’s Saheli programme, an online platform which sells and promotes products of women entrepreneurs in the country.
Apart from being sold in the Amazon Saheli website, Silpakarman’s sales happens through export exhibitions and the products are also listed on B2B websites like Indiamart and Alibaba.
However, Akshya’s entrepreneurial journey which had been full of ups and downs did not lower her passion for expanding her entrepreneurial journey to greater heights.
She is planning to have two flagship stores – one in India and one abroad- by 2022.
Moreover, she is also ready to launch her premium range of products in February 2020.
