The Tripura unit of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Thursday submitted a memorandum before the members of the high level committee formed by Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to look into the social, economic, cultural and linguistic issues of the indigenous people of the state.

Later in the evening, interacting with media at the CPI-M headquarters in Agartala, party’s state secretary Bijan Dhar informed that the Left Front has been fighting since decades for socio-economic development of tribal people.

Dhar also said that the party has lost over 2000 leaders and workers during their continuous ‘ideological and political struggle’ against the ‘anti-national armed extremist-secessionist forces to maintain peace and tranquillity of the State.

The Left party demanded  before the high powered committee that immediate rehabilitation be provided to all tribal families, who were allotted with land pattas under Forest Right Act, establishment of Eklabya model school in all tribal dominated blocks of the State including setting up ITI in every blocks of the state.

The CPI-M delegation also demanded empowerment of ADC administration.

While recording their demands before the high level committee, the CPI-M delegation demanded holistic developmental drive for overall development of the tribal population of the State including the sectors like education, health, economic, cultural and linguistic.
