Senior CPI-M leader and former Tripura Minister Badal Choudhury was allegedly attacked by “BJP goons” on Wednesday.
The incident was reported from Manirambai at Belonia in South Tripura district of the State.
Badal Choudhury sustained injuries in the attack and his vehicle was also vandalised by the miscreants.
“Former Minister, CPI-M Central Committee Member Badal Choudhury and other party leaders were attacked by BJP’s hoodlums at Manirambai, Belonia, South Tripura today,” the CPI-M said.

Badal Choudhury, a former cabinet minister in the previous Manik Sarkar-led Left Front State Government is currently the deputy leader of the opposition in the Tripura Assembly.
On the other hand, the BJP has rubbished the allegations of the CPI-M.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the attack case on Badal Choudhury.
The CPI-M said that the incident occurred when Chowdhury and other party leaders were holding a programme to observe the death anniversary of Dhananjay Tripura, a Kokborok language movement martyr, at Manirampara village, around 110km from Agartala.
