Tripura Congress on Friday is observing the 108 birth anniversary of Sanchindra Lal Singha, the first chief minister of the State.
The Congress workers and leaders assembled at Congress Bhavan in the morning and paid floral tributes to him.
Sachindra Lal Singha was born in 1907 and breathed his last on December 8, 2000.
Today is his 108th birth anniversary.
Sachindra Lal Sigha was also a freedom fighter.
Congress president Pijush Kanti Biswas said, Sachidra Lal Sigh was the symbol of unity in Tripura and also was highly popular leader of the State.
He was fondly called ‘Sachin-da’ and was highly admired for his simplicity and amiable nature.
He was a leader of the Indian National Congress and the first chief minister of Tripura from July 1, 1963 to November 1, 1971.
In 1977, he became the leader of the newly formed Congress for Democracy Party.
He was elected to the sixth Lok Sabha from Tripura West constituency as a candidate of this party.
