The Indian National Congress (INC) Lok Sabha candidate of for West Tripura constituency Subal Bhowmik was attacked for the second time on Sunday at Tulamura under Gomoti district of the State.

The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in a hurriedly held press conference later on Sunday apprised the media that the matter was brought to the notice of the chief electoral officer (CEO) on earlier occasions, but no action has been taken as yet resulting in further attacks on Bhowmik on Sunday.
Notably, both the opposition Congress and the CPI-M has been alleging pre-poll violence ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the media TPCC spokesperson Harekrishna Bhowmik said that after attacks on the state Congress unit leaders and workers as well as the CPI-M candidates, both the party leadership wrote separate letters to the CEO of state election commission but no action has been taken from the commission till date.
Bhowmik alleged that he was attacked by around 50 BJP workers on Sunday. This is the second attack on the INC candidate within a week.
Earlier, on Thursday, the INC candidate and former BJP leader Subal Bhowmik’s vehicles were attacked at two different spots of Sonamura sub-division allegedly by groups of BJP supporters.
TPCC spokesperson further alleged that the supporters of the ruling party attacked Subal Bhowmik and his supporters with sticks and weapons and three Congress supporters sustained serious injuries.
The injured party workers have been admitted to hospital for treatment, he further said, adding that the attack was pre-planned.
Later, police resorted to mild baton charge to disperse the mob and rescued Bhowmik and other leaders of the Congress.
