The BJP-IPFT led Tripura government will reopen the Chanmohan Tripura murder case.
Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this at a programme in Gandacherra of Dhalai district on Thursday.
“The sacrifice of Chanmohan Tripura will not go in vain. The state government has decided to re-open the case so that the killers are punished,” said a statement issued from CMO.
On December 26, 2017, BJP karyakarta Chanmohan Tripura, an elected village committee member of the BJP, was brutally killed by unidentified persons ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections in Dhalai district.
The statement claimed that the murderer of Chanmohan Tripura didn’t get punishment just because of the weak chargesheet submitted to the court.
“The police prepared a weak chargesheet as a result of which the murderers got away. It has been decided that the case will be re-investigated. People like Nishikanta Chakma and Gour Hari Molsom lost their lives at the hands of the CPM-backed goons,” the statement said.
It said the BJP-IPFT government has asked for the strengthening of the ADC and also proposed to name the ADC Tripura Territorial Council.
“We have decided to open a hospital in Khumulwng and the government will spend over Rs 200 crore to develop pisciculture in Dumboor lake for the indigenous people,” Deb said.
Deb blamed the erstwhile Left Front government for not taking any initiative to curb the illegal drugs business, because of which a major section of future generations had already become addicted.
