Owing to the death of sitting MLA Dilip Sarkar, the Bhadarghat seat in Tripura fell vacant and by-election became necessary.

In Hamirpur, the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ashok Chandel was convicted in the murder case of five persons and was awarded a lifer.

In Pala, owing to the demise of sitting Kerala Congress-M legislator KM Mani, the by-election became a necessity.

In Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, by-election became necessary after sitting BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi was allegedly killed by Naxals in April earlier this year.
