Bypoll to the Bhadarghat Assembly constituency would be held on September 23 along with Dantewada seat in Chhattisgarh, Pala in Kerala, and Hamirpur seat in Uttar Pradesh.

The Election Commission on Sunday announced the dates of the by-polls for the four legislative assembly constituencies.

The results of the by-polls will be announced on September 27.

Owing to the death of sitting MLA Dilip Sarkar, the Bhadarghat seat in Tripura fell vacant and by-election became necessary.

In Hamirpur, the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ashok Chandel was convicted in the murder case of five persons and was awarded a lifer.

In Pala, owing to the demise of sitting Kerala Congress-M legislator KM Mani, the by-election became a necessity.

In Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, by-election became necessary after sitting BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi was allegedly killed by Naxals in April earlier this year.

With the announcement of the election dates, a model code of conduct has come into effect in these constituencies.
