The police have arrested one man from the Dharmanagar Pragati Road area in Tripura’s Dharmanagar and recovered 40 gms of heroin from him.

The man has been identified as Faizur Rahman of Upathakhali area under Panisagar Police Station.

Based on prior information, police personnel had been patrolling in the Digolbagh area on Tuesday evening to catch the perpetrators red-handed.

Two men on a bike had reportedly been coming from Kadamtala towards Dharmanagar at about 8:30 pm on Tuesday, when the police on duty signaled them to stop.

While one man managed to escape on the two-wheeler, police managed to nab Faizur, who was carrying 40 grams of heroin in four soap cases packed in two plastic bags.

The value of the seized heroin in the black market is around Rs 4 lakh.

The North Tripura district superintendent of police Bhanupada Chakraborty was also present at the spot.
