As part of their crusade against smuggling activities, the Assam Rifles troops recovered 324 grams of heroin worth Rs 1.46 crore at Bukpui in the Kolasib area of Mizoram.

Two drug peddlers were apprehended by the Assam Rifles along with the contraband.

The operation was led by the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) on Saturday.

The operation was launched jointly with the excise & narcotics department based on specific information.

The market value of the recovered consignment of heroin is estimated to be Rs 1,45,80,000.
