For the family members of 35 year-old Shyamali Devi Chakma of Gandacharra in North Tripura’s Dhalai district, there was a dual reason to rejoice.
Shamali, a mother of three children, passed the Higher Secondary examination conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondar Education (TBSE) in Humanities stream. She secured 162 out of 500 marks in the examination.
The second reason to rejoice was because Shyamali’s son, Gunamoy Chakma also passed the Class XII exam conducted by the TBSE with flying colours. Gunamoy scored 414 marks in the exam with 82.8 percent marks in the Commerce stream.
The TBSE on Friday had announced the results of Class XII (Humanities and Commerce) on Friday.
While Shyamali had given up her studies after her marriage, Gunamoy inspired the mother to pick up books again and appear the Class XII examination. Both mother and son would now continue studies in the graduation level.
“It was a show of indomitable spirit and determination,” Rebati Tripura, the newly elected Member of Parliament from East Tripura
People from all walks of life lauded Shyamali for her success. “I hope many more mothers would now be inspired to study,” the MP said, adding that he would personally help them.
