A high-level committee of the Tripura government summoned the West Tripura district magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav on Friday for taking action against two marriage halls for violating night curfew on April 26.
The video of the district magistrate went viral in various media platforms where Yadav was seen thrashing the groom by his collar, beating the priest and using abusive words against relatives.
This has drawn criticism from various quarters of the society.

Yadav on Friday appeared before a committee consisting of IAS officers Kiran Gitte and Tanushree Debbarma.
The duo will submit their report to the Tripura chief secretary after completing the inquiry, and then the report would be handed over to chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
“The committee summoned me for giving evidence today (Friday). I came here at 3 pm and have submitted my statement and other documents,” said Yadav while speaking to Northeast Now.
“The committee also enquired on some orders passed by me under Section 144. I was also asked some questions, to which I have replied,” Yadav further said.
Yadav asserted “It is my duty to enforce the law and maintain order in order to prevent COVID-19 transmission. That’s why I took action against those violating night curfew restrictions and I stand by what I did.”
