Crime against women and domestic violence rate in Tripura has fallen in Tripura, said Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Monday.
He was speaking during the inauguration programme of a three-day capacity building programme for police officers on ‘Investigation of Crimes Against Women’ in Agartala.
“Statistics reveal that conviction rate has increased, crimes against women and domestic violence rate had fallen in Tripura since we took over the charge,” the CM said.
“We have also waged a war against drug dealers,” he added.
The CM also held in-depth discussions with police officials, mainly on the investigation of crimes against women.
He further said cases related to dowry torture had reduced by 12 per cent in 2018 compared to 2017, rape cases by 5 per cent, molestation cases by 18 per cent, dowry deaths reduced by 45 per cent.
“Our government is committed to delivering good governance in the state,” Deb added.
He further asked the people to cooperate with police and help the department in maintaining the law and order of the state.
“I urge every responsible citizen to co-operate with police and help police personnel to maintain law and order,” he said.
“Immediate information and action can stop a mishap. Everyone should play their role in making our state crime-free,” Deb reiterated.
