In the first reported death due to coronavirus infection from Northeast, a 23-year-old youth from Tripura died in a Malaysian hospital after he was reportedly infected by the virus.

Identified as Manir Hossain, the deceased worked in a restaurant in Malaysia and died on Tuesday night.

Hossain’s grandfather informed the media that they were informed about his death on Wednesday morning by the Malaysian authorities.

Hossain, who married in 2016, went to Malaysia in 2018 and since then he has been working in a restaurant there.

Hossain is the first person from the northeast to have died due to coronavirus infection.

His grandfather further said that the family would urge the government for making arrangement to bring Manir’s body back home.
