Agartala: The household survey phase of the Census exercise will commence on August 1 and continue throughout the month, while the second phase is scheduled to be completed by March 2027, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar said on Friday.
Addressing reporters after a district-level training programme for charge officers, enumerators, and supervisors at Sonar Tori State Guest House in Agartala, the District Magistrate said the Census exercise and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission will follow separate timelines and are unlikely to overlap.
โThe SIR process is expected to conclude by October or November, whereas the major Census-related individual enumeration work will begin in February next year. So there is adequate gap between the two exercises,โ he said.
Kumar described the Census as a crucial national exercise that would assist the government in policy formulation and welfare planning. He appealed to citizens to cooperate by voluntarily providing accurate information, assuring that personal details collected during the exercise would remain confidential and that only statistical data would be used for public policy and research purposes.
He informed that training programmes for charge officers, enumerators, and supervisors are being conducted in coordination with the Directorate of Census, with master trainers appointed at different levels for capacity building.
On self-enumeration, the District Magistrate said adult heads of families will be able to submit Census-related information through dedicated mobile applications and online portals between July 17 and July 31.
He added that the household survey questionnaire is expected to be finalised in July.
