BSF seizes huge consignment of Yaba tablets in Tripura’s Sepahijala

As part of their continued efforts against smuggling of contraband products, the Border Security Force (BSF) deployed in Border Outpost (BOP), Srimantapur in Tripura along the Indo-Bangladesh border, seized a huge consignment of Yaba tablets on October 2 last.

According to a press statement issued by the PRO, BSF Tripura Frontier, on October 2, 2018 at about 5:15 pm, on specific information, a special search operation was planned and conducted by Parmanand, Assistant Commandant/Coy Commander of BOP Srimantapur along with two sub-ordinate officers and two other ranks in the house of one 42-year-old Muslim Mia of Sonapur in Sepahijala district.

During the search in the house of Muslim Mia, the son of late Habil Mia, the BSF operational party accompanied by two civilians namely Abdul Jalil, son of Abdul Razal and Abdul Aziz, son of Ali Mia of Sonapur village, no one was found present in the house, at the time of the search operation.

“Probably, the occupants on seeing the operational group managed to slip away. However, the special operational party, acting on specific input, recovered Yaba tablets – 336 numbers – worth Rs 1,68,000, BD taka 540 and Myanmar Kyats 100 from the house and seized the items.”

The items seized were handed over to the Sonamura Police Station and an FIR was lodged in this connection against the owner of the house, the BSF PRO added.
