BSF jawan from Tripura martyred in Kashmir during anti-terror operation

A BSF jawan from Tripura was killed during a joint operation by the security forces against terrorists at the Machil sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday night.

The martyred Border Security Force (BSF) jawan has been identified as Sudip Sarkar.

Sudip Sarkar alias Butan was a jawan of the 169 Bn BSF.

He was a resident of Banamalipur Dhaleswar of Agartala, the state headquarters of Tripura.

He was martyred while fighting against Pakistan-backed militants in Kashmir while one terrorist was also killed in the encounter.

The news of his death reached his house at Agartala on Sunday (today).

After receiving the tragic news, the family members of the martyred jawan burst into tears.

His brother Dipankar Sarkar informed that Sudip studied at Ramakrishna Vivekananda Vidyamandir in Agartala.

Butan joined the BSF in 2000 and he planned to retire from service next year after completion of 20 years in the job.

His wife and two daughters are currently at Cooch Behar in West Bengal.

According to sources, when he was posted in Punjab, Sudip’s wife and daughters shifted to West Bengal.

He made the last call on Friday to his house at Agartala and talked to his mother, the martyred jawan’s brother added.

This morning a BSF official made a call to his house and informed about his martyrdom.

A pall of gloom has descended in Tripura after the death of the BSF jawan from the state.

The mortal remains of the martyred jawan will be brought to his house in Agartala at 2 pm on Monday.
