Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday asserted that the ruling BJP is set for a clean sweep in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). He said voters in the sixth schedule areas have already made up their minds to give the saffron party a popular mandate.

Speaking to reporters after attending a joining programme at Jolaibariโ€™s Debdaru area, Dr Saha said, โ€œPeople are spontaneously joining the BJP across the state. Wherever I go, the response and enthusiasm for the party are high. People have understood the aims and objectives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Based on this, I foresee a clean sweep in the polls, with the BJP winning all 28 seats.โ€

Currently, the TTAADC is governed by Tipra Motha, a junior ally of the BJP-led coalition. Criticising the present ADC administration, Dr Saha said, โ€œThe administration received substantial development funds over the last five years. Yet, the work completed is extremely underwhelming. The public now knows who truly deserves to govern the TTAADC.โ€

He expressed disappointment over Tipra Mothaโ€™s role in the coalition. โ€œWe have always maintained a policy of tolerance and mutual respect as a partner. But partnership does not give anyone the license to act freely. If our workers are attacked despite being in coalition, we have to rethink and consider other options,โ€ he said.

Dr Saha also pointed out that Leftist politics appear to dominate Tipra Motha. โ€œThe style of politics long practised by Left parties in Tripura is now prevailing in TTAADC areas. This trend must be rejected. A transparent and accountable administration is needed in the sixth schedule regions,โ€ he added.

The Chief Minister also spoke against the demand to introduce Roman script for Kokborok. During the event, 110 families, representing 330 voters, officially joined the BJP in his presence at Jolaibari.
