The completion of Agartala-Akhaura rail project, connecting Tripura with Bangladesh, has been deferred once again.
West Tripura district magistrate Sandeep Mahatme said the project will complete by September 2021.
Earlier the completion date was March 31, 2021.
District magistrates of Tripura and deputy commissioners of Bangladesh held a meeting on Wednesday in this regard at state guest house of Agartala.

After the meeting, Mahatme who led the Tripura side informed that the meeting discussed about Agartala-Akhaura rail project.
It has decided that the project will finish by September 2021.
He informed that the land accusation work has done by the district administration.
And the process is being completed in both Tripura and Bangladesh side.
Now it’s time for the construction agencies to begin work.
Mahatme said Tripura and Bangladesh agreed to set up three more border haats.
A joint team, he said, would visit the places proposed for setting of the border haats in Jagatrampur of Sepahijala, Paharmura of Khowai and Bamutia of West Tripura district.
After visiting the spots, the representatives would submit reports to the Ministries of Industries of both the countries.
Several important topics including border fencing, human trafficking, drugs smuggling, import-export of goods and setting up of more border haats were discussed in the meeting.
The Indian delegation was led by Dr Sandeep Mahatme while deputy commissioner of Comilla district – Md. Abul Fazal Mir led the Bangladesh delegates.
The district magistrates of Khowai and Sepahijala, police chiefs of three districts – West, Khowai and Sepahijala and other officials of Tripura were present in the crucial meeting.
Similarly, deputy commissioners and police chiefs of four districts of Bangladesh – Moulvibazar, Comilla, Habiganj and Brahmanbaria along with other officials were part of the Bangladesh delegation.
The officials of BSF and BGB were also present in the DM-DC level meeting.
