At least four people died and 15 were critically injured after a vehicle fall in the gorge in the Lakri Dokan area on the Amarpur – Nutan Bazar Road.
The deceased include three women.
The incident occurred on Friday when some BJP workers were travelling through the Amarpur – Nutan Bazar Road after attending a public meeting of Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in Nutan Bazar Malbasa Autonomous District Council (ADC) constituency in South Tripura district.
The BJP workers had been travelling by a truck, which turned turtle after the driver of the vehicle lost control while taking a U-turn.

The chief minister had attended a roadshow and a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Atindra Riang of Nutan Bazar Malbasa ADC constituency on Friday ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
BJP Gomoti district president Abhishek Debroy said the vehicle carrying the BJP workers fell into a gorge while returning from an election rally.
The injured were rushed to the Amarpur sub-divisional hospital at Amarpur.
Doctors at the sub-divisional hospital referred four of the injured to the Gomti District Hospital.
The chief minister has expressed regret over the incident.
