The North Tripura District and session has awarded capital punishment to one woman and a man for the murder of Aziruddin Jalal in 2016.

The accused, Nazmina (38) and her brother-in-law Faizul Jalal (28)have been convicted of murdering the former’s husband, Aziruddin.

The accused are residents of Madhya Rajnagar at Kadamtala in North Tripura.

According to sources, Nazmina developed an illicit relationship with Faizul while being already married to his elder brother Aziruddin.

The victim soon came to know of their relationship and confronted them.

On March 17, 2016, Nazmina reportedly fed the victim with sleeping pills mixed in his food.

Later at night she along with Faizul poured petrol on his body and set him on fire, thereby killing him in the process.

Aziruddin and Faizul ‘s father Shukur Ali had filed a complaint with the police.

Sub-inspector of Kadamtala Police Station Pijush Kanti Saha investigated the case and arrested Nazmina Begum and Faizul Jalal.

A total of 13 witnesses testified in the case.

North Tripura district and session court judge Gautam Sarkar pronounced them guilty and sentenced them to death.
