Tripura registered 16 more COVID19 positive cases on Saturday taking the state total to 189.
All of the infected patients came from Mumbai by train on Thursday night to Agartala.
Confirming the news, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said a total of 996 samples were tested for COVID19 in the state on Saturday, out of which 16 persons tested positive.
“996 samples have been tested today in Tripura for COVID-19. Among them 16 persons found COVID19 #POSITIVE. All of them have returned from Maharashtra,” tweeted chief minister Deb.
“They have been admitted to hospital,” he added.
The chief minister has urged all the returnees to follow the government’s instructions on quarantine and cooperate the government.
“Requesting all travellers to follow the quarantine instructions & co-operate with Govt,” deb further tweeted.

Additional chief secretary and health secretary Sanjoy Kumar Rakesh also said the process of shifting the infected patients to the Bhagat Singh Yuba Awas, a Covid Care Centre, has been started.
Rakesh also said the new patients are all civilians.
While addressing a press conference in the evening, Tripura education minister Ratan Lal Nath said till date, 153 patients have recovered from the disease and they have been discharged from the hospitals.
