Agartala: Former Tripura Chief Minister and current Lok Sabha MP from West Tripura,Biplab Kumar Deb,on Tuesday said that the All India Trinamool Congress has no future,shortly after arriving in the state amid celebrations by Bharatiya Janata Party supporters over the party’s performance in West Bengal.
Deb,who served as election co-in-charge for West Bengal,received a grand welcome from party workers at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.
Speaking to reporters,he questioned the TMC’s prospects in the northeastern region and asserted that the BJP continues to maintain a strong organisational base. Calling the party’s efforts to expand in Tripura ineffective, Deb remarked that the TMC is “a gone case.”
He further said that the BJP’s performance in West Bengal has boosted the morale of party workers across different states and will strengthen the organisation.He added that the BJP will continue to expand its base in Tripura through grassroots outreach and development driven initiatives.
Supporters gathered at the airport and various parts of the city, waving flags and raising slogans, while police personnel were deployed to manage the crowds and regulate traffic.
Although Deb did not outline specific organisational strategies, he maintained that the BJP remains firmly positioned in Tripura.He also pointed to past election results, stating that voters in the state have consistently supported the party.
In recent years,the TMC has attempted to build its presence in Tripura by participating in civic elections and conducting outreach programmes, but it has yet to achieve notable electoral success.
Later in the day, Deb visited the Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur to offer prayers. He was accompanied by state minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
